Jean Henderson Karns, age 100, of West Salem Township, Greenville, formerly of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, passed away on December 26, 2017, at St. Paul's. 

She was born December 25, 1917, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  She was the daughter of the late David Henderson and Florence Given Henderson. 

Jean is survived by her daughter; Carol Karns Hosmer and her husband Steve, her son; James D. Karns and his wife Frances, a sister, Florence Henderson Jones of Chesterfield, Virginia, five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren, and two nieces. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Karns and a brother David G. Henderson.

A wonderful Mother and friend, Jean was a lifelong artist, graduated from Carnegie Tech (Mellon) University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and spent her life creating beauty on canvas.  She was a keen observer of the natural world which was conveyed in her beautiful paintings.

There will be no visitation and a memorial service will be held at a later date.  Interment will be beside her husband in the Columbarium at Southminster Presbyterian Church in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's, 339 E. Jamestown Rd., Greenville, PA 16125.
